For many children, adolescents, young adults—it's a stressful world. Over recent years, rates of adolescents reporting thoughts of sadness, symptoms of depression, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts have been rising. The pandemic exacerbated those trends.
As we recognize May as Mental Health Awareness Month, CTC-RI is highlighting our impactful, targeted program that has been engaging pediatric practices over the last 3 years to pilot an integrated behavioral health model to help address the mental and behavioral health needs of children and families.
May’s Behavioral Health Technical Assistance learning session focused on Behavior Plan Basics, where participants learned about the core elements of effective behavior plans as well as common pitfalls and why behavior plans fail. Sample behavior plans and behavior contracts that support healthy routines in older children were shared (e.g. sleep, managing electronics).
The mission of CTC-RI is to support the continuing transformation of primary care in Rhode Island as the foundation of an ever-improving integrated, accessible, affordable, and equitable health care system. CTC-RI brings together critical stakeholders to implement, evaluate and spread effective multi-payer models to deliver, pay for and sustain high-quality, comprehensive, accountable primary care.
