Best Practices in STI Primary Care: Successful Conclusion to ECHO® Learning Series

The sixth and final session of the Best Practices in Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) in Primary Care: ECHO® Learning Series, funded by UnitedHealthcare, occurred in February. We are pleased to report that the session was a great success, with participants providing excellent feedback on the valuable insights shared. Dr. Hsu is Medical Director for the Division of STD Prevention & HIV/AIDS Surveillance at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Her extensive experience in pediatric infectious diseases provided participants with a wealth of knowledge and practical strategies.
Session Highlights:
- The epidemiologic trends of HSV 1 and 2 infections in the United States.
- The impact of HSV 1 and 2 infections on health equity, particularly in underserved populations, along with identifying socioeconomic and cultural barriers that create worsening health disparities.
- Recommended screening, testing, and treatment strategies for HSV 1 and 2 infections, including best practices and innovative clinical processes to reduce barriers to care and treatment for patients and their partners.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for their engagement throughout the series. Special appreciation goes to UnitedHealthcare for generously funding this impactful project, which has supported healthcare providers in enhancing care delivery and improving health outcomes.
