RI Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner Issues Proposed Amendments to Affordability Standards
The Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner (OHIC) posted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking with respect to 230-RICR-20-30-4: Powers and Duties of the Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner, which includes the Affordability Standards. The rulemaking documents, which have important implications for primary care, are posted on the OHIC and RICR websites.
The proposed amendments are intended to:
- Ensure sustainable funding for advanced primary care;
- Support the integration of behavioral health into primary care by removing administrative encumbrances to integration and
- Transition payment models to prospective payment to allow greater clinical flexibility and support team-based care.
The public comment period ends on January 16, 2020. OHIC will hold a public hearing on the proposed amendments on January 10, 2020 at the RI Department of Labor & Training Conference Room, 1511 Pontiac Ave. Building 73-1. Cranston, RI 02920.
