CTC-RI Announces Participating QI Practices in Demographic Data Planning Committee Meeting

The April Demographic Data Committee meeting featured Sarah Reinstein of EBCAP presenting the BCBSRI LGBTQ Safe Zone Certification process. EBCAP's pursuit of recognition since 2021 underscores its commitment to workplace inclusivity. A multidisciplinary workgroup, reflecting collective dedication, was formed to ensure compliance with certification requirements. The application criteria were outlined into sections, addressing various aspects such as forms, training, space/environment of care, procedures/clinical operations, and compliance/quality assurance. Initiatives involved updating intake forms, staff cultural competency training, and ensuring gender-neutral environments. These efforts concluded in the certification of 4 clinical sites in September 2023, with plans for annual re-certification and extension to additional facilities.

Additionally, it was announced that 15 practices have been selected to participate in the 2024 Improving Demographic Data Collection in Primary Care to Address Health Disparities Quality Improvement Initiative. There were 3 practices, Concilio Pediatrics, University Internal Medicine, and Your Health, Inc., that participated in the Demographic Data Collection Pilot Project and will continue their work to improve collection of patient demographic data collection in the Quality Improvement Initiative. The remaining 12 practices will begin by completing a Baseline Needs Assessment, mirroring the process completed in the Pilot Project. The Quality Improvement Initiative is set to commence with a kickoff learning collaborative meeting on April 25. The 15 practice quality improvement teams will work with practice facilitators from May through December to improve demographic data completeness rates and will identify a second improvement measure from their Baseline Needs Assessment. Congratulations to all 15 practices!
