Breakfast of Champions March Meeting To Discuss Weight Management and Advancements in Obesity Treatment

CTC-RI will host its March 10 quarterly Breakfast of Champions Meeting focusing on advancements in treatment in obesity, including new medications and community-based interventions. Panelists will include Angela Fitch, MD, FACP, FOMA and Stephen Kogut, Ph.D., M.B.A. Angela Fitch, MD, FACP, FOMA is the Associate Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center, faculty at the Harvard Medical School and the Chief Medical Officer of KnownWell Health. She currently is serving as President-elect of the Obesity Medicine Association and has previously served as vice president, secretary/treasurer, and trustee on OMA’s board of trustees. She was the 2015-2016 chair of the clinical management section of The Obesity Society. Dr. Fitch is the winner of the 2017 Clinician of the Year Award from the Obesity Medicine Association. Stephen Kogut, Ph.D., M.B.A. specializes in the areas of medication outcomes research and managed care pharmacy. He teaches courses at University of RI in pharmacoeconomics, health economic modeling, and health care systems and policy. Dr. Kogut is Director for Tracking and Evaluation for Advance-CTR which serves as RI’s statewide hub of research resources and services for clinical and translational investigators. He is also a member of the RI Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board, the New England Comparative Effectiveness Public Advisory Council, and the Board of Directors of Healthcentric Advisors. Dr. Kogut's current research interests include the application of pharmacoeconomic research in managed care environments, and measuring and improving the quality of prescription medication use in populations. The panel presentation will also be followed by reactants who include LouAnne Giangreco, MD FACEP, Senior Medical Director-Medical Affairs, BCBS; Susan Andrews, MD, Medical Director, General Dynamics Electric Boat; and Sarah Hagin, PhD, Director, Feeding Program, Hasbro Children's Hospital who will share their perspectives on weight management and caring for patients.
