Clinical Strategy Committee Learns from VT & MA on Healthcare Reform

The January Clinical Strategy Committee (CSC) meeting featured presentations by 2 guests to RI: Vicki Loner, MS, CEO of OneCare Vermont discussed the development of the single statewide accountable care organization in VT and related implications for RI: OneCare Vermont, VT's ACO – Learning about the APM Experience. Katherine Howitt, MA, Director of MA Medicaid Policy Institute, BCBS of MA Foundation presented on developing primary care capitation for pediatric patients and on a recent report from the Center for Health Care Strategies and the BCBSMA Foundation: Value-Based Payment to Support Children’s Health and Wellness: Shifting the Focus from Short-Term to Life Course Impact. The Committee is also pleased to welcome back to RI our colleagues Judith Steinberg, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health to present on the current status of a primary care plan for Health and Human Services; and Craig Jones, MD, Partner, Capitol Health Associates, with reflections from Learning Action Network (LAN) work on alternative payments for primary care. All are invited to attend this February 18 panel discussion, 7:30-9AM and CME credit is available.
