Update on controlling high blood pressure measure
Adult CTC practices will start reporting on the HEDIS 2019 controlling high blood pressure measure (blood pressure control defined as 140/90 for adults age 18-85) beginning 1/15/19 for timeframe 1/1/18-12/31/18. The previous measure (control defined as 140/90 for adults 18-59 or patient with diabetes 18-85; 150/90 for patients 60-85) has been retired effective 12/1/18. Practice Reporting committee co-chair Andrea Galgay updated the measurement specification for controlling high blood pressure. Practices will use these updated measurement specifications for reporting to CTC and OHIC in October 2019. The Data and Evaluation Committee established thresholds for the new controlling high blood pressure. Practices interested in meeting performance threshold through the improvement method will have the opportunity to resubmit their 2018 1st quarter performance data (4/1/17 -3/31/18) using the new measurement specifications.
