COVENTRY -- Coventry hopes to become the first town in Rhode Island to take a community-wide approach to addressing childhood trauma. Thanks to a $440,000 grant from the Rhode Island Foundation, Coventry has embarked on a multi-year campaign to help students suffering from the effects of trauma, which includes the impact of domestic violence, divorce, drug abuse or the death of a loved one.Five other organizations were awarded grants through the foundation's Behavioral Health Fund: the Center for Evidence-Based Practice at Bradley Hospital, the Care Transformation Collaborative of Rhode Island and PCMH Kids, Clinica Esperanza, the Rhode Island Association for Infant Mental Health and Rhode Island College.
