coordinator

Meet Phos Ivestei (he/him, they/them), CTC-RI's newest Program Coordinator. Phos supports several important CTC-RI initiatives. Many of their assignments focus on integrated behavioral health in pediatrics,
community health workers, and professional development.

They also support the development of projects that focus on cardiovascular health, alcohol and substance use disorders, and the improvement of clinical team-based care.

Phos obtained their Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Rhode Island College with an emphasis in both the medical and environmental subfields. Their professional background is concentrated mainly in medical-legal partnership, working in law areas devoted to LGBTQ+ rights, HIV/AIDS, human rights, victim assistance, prison advocacy, and health equity.

“My work in both professional and academic settings has always focused on zooming out from medicine as a mere component of health and looking at the social and environmental aspects that impact our ability to achieve wellness. For us to empower individuals on their path to healthier outcomes, we must also be collaborative, threading together people from different experiences and backgrounds to weave a net that is strong and secure enough to address people’s needs now and for the future. CTC-RI was attractive during my employment search because it mirrored my values about healthcare and provided a structure that is optimal for progress in this field. Since graduating, I have been searching for a place where I can flex my skillset as a student of anthropology and bring my lived and professional experience forward to contribute to change in the field of healthcare. CTC-RI has exceeded my expectations of a job in only a few weeks. I feel confident I made the right decision to join such a wonderful team and work on important projects to improve healthcare for the Rhode Island community.”
