RI MomsPRN Quality Improvement Initiative

  • 13 Jun 2024
CTC-RI, together with the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), invited our fourth cohort of RI MomsPRN practices to participate in a perinatal quality improvement initiative after a successful statewide call for applications. Unlike prior cohorts, practices will identify their own quality improvement project related to perinatal behavioral health focusing on advancing respectful, culturally responsive, and linguistically appropriate care. The quality improvement initiative is ten months long and includes eight ECHO learning sessions. The four practices that were selected to participate in this initiative:
  • Care New England Medical Group Family Care Center
  • Lifespan Obstetrics & Genecology
  • Tri-County Community Action Agency
  • VICTA
At the kickoff meeting, Jim Beasley introduced RIDOH and CTC-RI teams and then each of the practices introduced their quality improvement teams. Dr. Zobeida Diaz reviewed various screening tools that she uses to help screen for specific conditions that sometimes present themselves during the perinatal period. She also addressed cultural considerations when screening for mental health conditions and discussed some of the barriers to treatment. CTC-RI’s Susanne Campbell finished the meeting by reviewing the expectations, logistics and next steps of the program. The 8-month ECHO Learning program offered to these four practices will also be made available to the larger learning community. Be on the lookout for registration and more information on this ECHO program to be released on June 27.

Thank you to RIDOH and EOHHS for continued support and funding for this opportunity.
