Addressing Alcohol Use Disorder in Primary Care Think Tank Series
The 3rd session of the Addressing Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) in Primary Care Think Tank was held in November. CTC-RI was joined by the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH) to provide an extensive overview of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) and their role in addressing AUD treatment. The presentation covered the CCBHC rollout and implementation, expectations, levels of outpatient and withdrawal management care, and primary care integration. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion, addressing the lapse between emergency department (ED) discharge and outpatient treatment, the need for more peer recovery specialists in ED, and screening tools for assessing the level of treatment. Slides from this session can be accessed here. A recording of the session is available here. We thank subject matter expert Beth Matthews, MSN, MBA, Associate Director, BHDDH Special Programs, and Nelly Burdette, PsyD, Director, Boston Medical Center Population Behavioral Health, and CTC-RI Senior Director, Integrated Behavioral Health, for moderating the panel.
