Breakfast of Champions September Meeting Addresses Unconscious Bias in Healthcare
CTC-RI proudly hosted expert Robert T. Jones to talk about unconscious bias in healthcare at the September Breakfast of Champions. Mr. Jones is the Chief Empowerment Officer of T. Lee Associates, an international education consulting company. Mr. Jones was formerly the Program Director for the National Conference for Community and Justice in the RI and SE NE Region.
Mr. Jones has conducted a wide range of strategic development sessions, workshops and training in a variety of settings. His clients have included international clients in Great Britain, India, over 150 high schools, 20 colleges and universities, various teaching organizations, religious organizations and Fortune 500 companies. He has covered such topics as the philosophy of Kingian Nonviolence, strategic planning for inclusive excellence and diversity, equity, & inclusion initiatives, interfaith dialogues, executive coaching, servant leadership, communicating across cultural lines, managing diversity, valuing customer service, interrupting discriminatory behavior, becoming an ally, and adjusting to the changing workplace.
The meeting had over 50 attendees and reactant discussion followed from Crystal Fairchild, Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Human Resources Officer, Thundermist Health Center. Mr. Jones engaged participants in polls to help level-set how individuals where feeling around the subject and followed with a presentation and videos to start conversation on the impact of healthcare. Participants were encouraged to share lived experiences and to develop an action plan to move forward to implementation in their practices.
