Addressing Alcohol Use Disorder in Primary Care Think Tank Series
The third session of the Addressing Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) in Primary Care Think Tank was held on November 18. This session we were joined by The Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH) to provide an extensive overview of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) and their role addressing AUD treatment. The presentation covered the CCBHC roll out and implantation, expectations, levels of outpatient and withdrawal management care, and primary care integration. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion, addressing the lapse between emergency department (ED) discharge and outpatient treatment, the need for more peer recovery specialists in the ED, and screening tools for assessing the level of treatment.
